Stolen Exerpt From Stephane Dion’s Diary

Published by mayorofnowhere at 6:47 pm under 1 Edit This

In a stunning breach of confidence, middleofnowhere has obtained a page stolen from the diary of Stephane Dion, Liberal leader and would be Prime Minister of Canada, should the proposed coalition ever succeed in Ottawa.

The one page exerpt was written shortly after the coalition was proposed and accepted by NDP leader Jack Layton and Bloc Quebecois leader, Gilles Duceppe

Dear Diary,

I am so excited! It looks as though someday soon I might actually get to be Prime Minister, can you believe it? Remember how I was saying only last week that it would take a miracle in order for me to ever be him? Well, I guess miracles do come true!

I find it very ironic being Francophone and owing all of this to the British Parliamentary system. Many Canadians seem to not know how the system works, and I have to be honest diary…I’m not even sure I get it all myself.

All I know is that more people in Ottawa want me to be Prime Minister than Stephen Harper. I know that seems silly, as I have written to you so many times about how not even many Liberals like me all that much, but there you have it.

Stephen can be so mean sometimes, and I guess this time he’s been too mean to too many people all at once. Every time I have told him he has hurt my feelings in the past he has told me he was only kidding. But then when his Conservative friends are around, he just starts calling me names again. One time he even gave me something called a “purple nurple” - it was not pleasant.

I’m feeling pretty good about making a government with the NDP. They only wanted 6 cabinet seats - I would have given them 12! I have to admit I’m a little nervous about relying on Gilles though. Every time he tells me that I will have his support, it seems like he is trying hard just to keep a straight face. One time, I think I even heard him say “Pas” under his breath after he said he would support me.

I guess I should get to sleep. I think I need lots of energy in case I have to pack all of my things up and move! Fingers crossed!
